Prof. John Monroe is co-winner of the Arnold Rubin Outstanding Publication Award

Prof. John Monroe’s recent book Metropolitan Fetish: African Sculpture and the Imperial French Invention of Primitive Art was co-winner of the 2021 Arnold Rubin Outstanding Publication Award. The Rubin Award is given once every three years by the Arts Council of the African Studies Association and recognizes “works of original scholarship and excellence in visual presentation that make significant contributions to our understanding of African arts and material culture.” Congratulations to Prof. Monroe!
