Prof. Amy Rutenberg, assistant professor of History, is becoming the “go to” expert for issues surrounding the draft. With tensions in the Middle East rising, increasing the size of United States military forces has become a hot topic in the media, so much so that the Selective Service website crashed as people rushed to understand what is happening. Author of the recently released book Rough Draft: Cold War Military Manpower Policy and the Origins of Vietnam-Era Draft Resistance, Prof. Rutenberg has been contacted by reporters from Cheddar, PolitiFact, and WCCO, the Minneapolis CBS affiliate. She also recorded an interview for Press Play with Madeleine Brand for KCRW, the NPR affiliate in Los Angeles, and published “Worrying about being drafted doesn’t mean you’re disloyal – it’s an old American tradition” on The Conversation, which you can find here: https://theconversation.com/worrying-about-being-drafted-doesnt-mean-youre-disloyal-its-an-old-american-tradition-129532
