Bio

My particular areas of interest are the American Revolution, especially the issue of loyalism— the question of why some Anglo-Americans chose to join the revolutionaries while other remained committed to the British crown — and eighteenth-century warfare, in particular the Seven Years’ War and the War of American Independence. I have also done research and teach on the interplay between technology and military institutions during the period 1870-1950. I regularly teach course on Colonial America (HIST 4500), the American Revolution (HIST 4510) and both American (HIST 3890) and World (HIST 3900) Military History.
